Nelson of the East returns to Tartelet’s DANCEMPORIUM sub label with ‘Sirena’ – this time channeling the summery sounds of early Eurodance and acid trance. Take a trip back in time and enjoy an evening at a fantasy Italian beach club circa 1993. Out October 20.

The inspiration to write this record came out of Nelson’s conflicting feelings about Eurodance – a genre many people love to hate. Confronting this duality head on, Nelson opens himself - and us - up to the base pleasures of upfront body music and saccharine melodic hooks, while contemplating the persuasive power of enchanting club music through two original floor fillers and two alternative mixes.

“Versioning is something I've often noticed on EPs I've been inspired by,” explains Nelson. “I love how certain versions work better than others on different occasions, especially when you have a remix of a very famous track that somehow triggers listeners on the dancefloor without fully revealing the original mix.”

The original mix of ‘Sirena’ carries Nelson’s split intentions perfectly, riding out on a thumping, staccato Eurodance pulse but bathed in a wistful melodic lilt, brash and immediate but also elegantly executed.

Keeping the sun kissed energy strong on the B side, ’Aftersun’ softens the attack of its trippy acid trance structure with delicate Balearic tones and snaking percussion lines. Also, look out for the ‘Poseidon Mix’ of the same track, which teases a half-speed downtempo lilt before winding up in an unexpected crescendo of diced-up jungle breakbeats.

“I imagined that if Side A was a siren song with two ecstatic and dreamy versions,” explains Nelson, “then Side B could be more melancholic and fun, still with that guitar I both love and hate. The track still has its two versions, but this time playing on the contrasts in a different way by having a surprising jungle/D&B finish.”

The release will be available as a Bandcamp exclusive vinyl limited to 30 copies, and digitally on all platforms.
